Final Post

1) Participation

In terms of gym strip, absences, and punctuality, I would say that I always bring gym strip, I bring a note or an excuse note if I'm not participating in PE, or if I was absent once or twice. I never come late to class, and am always on time. I like to keep my friends motivated and participate in activities, even if I don't like them I try to make the day fun, by encouraging my friends or having a good time with them. On choice days, I always choose an activity that I like, for example my friends and I really like to do volleyball; we find it fun. Even if I don't like an activity or fitness, I try really hard.

2) Social Responsibility and Contribution to the Class

I think that I have contributed a lot in terms of encouraging others, and making sure that my peers are having fun, and no one has a negative attitude towards things. Whenever my friends give up on something, I always try to motivate them to do better, and I try to inspire them to feel confident and good about themselves in PE by making connections to what I do outside of school. I try to help around, like when we did the activity where we had to choose workouts from the iPads, I brought the yoga mats by myself. The volunteer work that I do at taekwondo has improved my leadership and communication skills in class; I'm not as shy anymore of be a leader.

3) Healthy Living

I think I have made a few dietary changes, I don't eat unnecessarily, like when I'm bored or binge eating. I make sure that I get the nutrients I need by eating lots of fruits and vegetables. My fitness scores definitely teach me a lot, but they also help me improve in other areas. I can safely say that my fitness level, and my eating habits are ten times better than they were in grade 8. I hardly did any extra curriculars then, and now that I am, my endurance is so much better. Since we do a lot of runs in PE, I'm a better runner in field hockey as I have practiced pacing. The extra curricular activities that I do also keep me fit, and they help me in fitness as well. I hated runs at the beginning of field hockey, but now I've grown to like them with the help of fitness and PE

4) Digital Portfolio and Reflective skills

I feel like peer editing, is a really good idea; you learn somethings about yourself that's not only from a teacher, but from people in your surroundings. I feel like the quality of my blog is pretty good, as I included, and tried to meet, all of the criteria. The one thing that I would say my blog is lacking, is that I can't get many videos or pictures; I don't have access to a device all the time. A few goals that I have for the future are to keep improving my stamina, and improve on upper body strength a lot more. In conclusion, I feel that PE 9 has been a big change for me in terms of my fitness and health, as I have made some good choices and changes, that have been affecting me in a positive way.

Vegetarian Diet Is Not Just Salad

Since I am a vegetarian, protein is a bit of a challenge to consume, as I don't eat meat. My mum however, always encourages me to eat lots of lentils, beans, and tofu. Something that I like that she makes is probably stir fry tofu with vegetables, because it is freaking delicious. I'm trying to eat more proteins instead of carbohydrates, because that is like poison for a vegetarian. I don't have a photo of what she made, but I do have the recipe, and the link is below. I think having a lot of variety of foods is good for me, and it gives me the nutrients I need.

Choices and Responsibilities

In PE, I am responsible for how well I do and my learning. I feel like I generally make good choices in PE; I don't do things that I'm not supposed to do, and I surround myself with the right kind of people that will motivate me and support me. For example, I don't skip PE even though I have the choice to skip. I don't have to bring gym strip, and I don't have to participate, but I still do. I do all of these things because I want a healthy life style, and I don't want exercise to seem like a chore, but sometime that I like to do, so I try to make it fun for me. The choices I make in class affect me, my peers, and my overall mark in this class. I think that they are affecting me in a positive way, as I am improving in physical activity in sports I do after school. For example, because we did the pond run, community run, and the beep test, I can run two laps around a field hockey field without stopping. I am hoping to continue to make good choices that will help me in the future.

What PE 9 Has Taught Me

I have compiled a list of things that I have learned during PE in grade 9:

1. Having a positive attitude makes the class more fun

2. Its usually a good choice to do things with friends

3. Partner up with someone that brings you up, not takes you down

4. Make goals

5. Always give more than expected

6. Take personal responsibility

7. Keep an open mind

8. Don't do something just because others are doing it

9. Deadlines are important

10. Water beats gatorade

Summer Goals

In the summer, I am going to try to stay fit, by doing a lot more workouts. I plan on going for runs, as I think PE has taught me to like them, eat healthy, try to do other things instead of go on the internet all the time. Also, I'd like to work my core a little more. I want to be fit for grade 10, so that the first few weeks of PE won't be a struggle for me.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Some of my strengths in PE are that I try to motivate others, and I don't give up. Even if I'm dying in the community run I do the best I can, and I always try to set goals for myself, and I like to help others set goals for themselves. A few of my weaknesses, is that I'm not always motivated, and sometimes I can have a bit of a negative attitude towards things. For example, I really dread the beep test because I always feel like I'll do really bad, but then sometimes I don't mind it. Ocassionally a few times before fitness, I always complain about what we might do. What I'm going to try and do, is to have a more positive attitude and look at the bright side of things !

Loco Motion

This is also VERY long over due. We did loco motion, and I did some physical activity after being sick for a very long time, and I was pretty impressed with myself. I did moderately well for someone that was recovering, and I didn't give up even when opportunity was given. I like loco motion because it gives me a chance to be a lot more independant, and I always feel like I work a lot harder when I am alone.

Strikes Affecting PE

We haven't done a lot of PE in a really long time because of strikes and band, like the last time we had fitness was on tuesday after a period of three weeks or so. I hope that we have a full week of school; I'd like to have some fun outside in PE

Capture The Flag

About last week or so, we played a very interesting game of capture the flag. I didn't really like it as it confused me and I didn't know what to do. I also thought that we should've made the teams better.  I prefer to do stuff like choice, where we get to choose the activity we would like to do.

Community Run

So this is really long overdue, but we did the community run on Tuesday, and it was pretty good in my opinion. I think I did better because I was on my own, and I wasn't relying on anyone to catch up with me. During the run at first, I got a really bad cramp, but after a while I was doing good. I came back a few minutes before the bell rang for lunch (as it was a flex day).
