Final Post

1) Participation

I would say that this year my attendance has been perfect, aside from those days where we had double band classes. I always have gym strip. Sometimes I'm not always on time, but it isn't an all year thing. I always try to make myself included during activites we do as a class. Most of the time I enjoy the activites, (there has been like a few days where I wasn't motivated or liking what we were doing). But about 90% of the time, I'm motivated and ready to go. Whenever we do choice, I pick things that I feel I would have fun in, or that would challenge my intensity. For example, I didn't pick capture the flag last choice, because I knew that I wouldn't have tried in that.

2) Social Responsibility

I consider myself a very social person, but at the same time I don't consider myself a leader. However I do always try to encourage my peers, and throughout the year I think its safe to say, that I have tried to make gym a better place for everyone. I always try to maintain a positive energy during gym, and I try to make everyone feel included and welcomed. I usually help with the equipment if opportunity given. I have definetly made a big effort this year to maintain a stronger bond with our class, and there's barely a divide between the grade 10's and 9's anymore.

3) Healthy Living

My fitness scores have been somewhat average. I have gotten a 6 on the beep test, and I believe that on the scale, its average for a female between 14-16 years old. This teaches me that I can definetly push myself harder considering I do field hockey and taekwondo. I have noticed improvements in my fitness drastically. In the beginning of the year, I could barely run 5 minutes straight on the treadmill, but now I'm at about 10 minutes and beyond. I work out about 4 times a week on my own time. I either go to the gym, for taekwondo, field hockey, and sometimes I walk home. My food choices have also improved, as I have recently cut down on a lot of sugar. My future plans are just to try to eat better food, as I'm a vegetarian and shouldn't be consuming a lot of carbs, and try to push myself even harder than I do now.

G-Stone Day

We skipped fitness to go to goldstone park and I think that's the best descision we've ever made. We ran laps there but it was fun.

Speedball

We did speed ball yesterday, and it was really fun despite being really hot outside. Although I feel like 4 balls wasn't enough for 60 kids, and the game would've been more competitive if we had like 2 more. I tried today because I LOVE THIS GAME. i love it because its so fun and unique and I feel like you actually run around and stuff and everyone can do something in it. Like if you aren't good at soccer, pick up the ball and run with it like a football, its great.

Boot Camp (You know its real)

Aye so today we did bootcamp (bless our souls). It was so so tiring, I guess cause we were outside and I basically tried. We had to get a partner and do a bunch of exercises and try to beat them (I ended up beating pallvi by 1 point 😂) and it was a pretty good workout. I gave up a couple times but I actually liked it because we got like 30 second breaks and decided what we wanted to do in what order. I tried today because I wanted to try, like why go to gym if you don't wanna try. It was pretty fun too.

Circuit

So I basically DIED today. We did the circuit thingy where one partner stays in the gym while the other runs around, my partner was Katia. At the beginning I was like alright this is cool just running, and then by the end of it I was choking on my saliva. I went all out because I wanted to be the best I could be today, and I don't know what it is, but if I don't try I feel like I basically just failed. I'm proud of myself because even though I wanted to quit, I still kept going. I guess its because I had Pallvi motivating me.I'm still sweating but you probably didn't need to know that. Anywho, overall it was a great workout and I know that when I wake up tomorrow I'm probably going to be a little sore.

Super Late Dance Week Post

So for dance week we did Bhangra and Jazz! It was really fun even though I wasn't very good at jazz, it was just fun to be with all my peers and such. It was so funny when Mr.Williams came for bhangra and we basically dominated all the classes in the dance battle. Activities like these really bond both the bands together in my opinion

Buddies (Day 5)

Buddies was so fun today ahhh. We played a human version of rock paper scissors outside on the grass field. I feel like I did a good job of instructing my buddy as to how to play. First I explained to her what we were doing, and then I asked her to demonstrate to me what rock, paper, and scissors look like. I feel like she enjoyed today more as she FINALLY decided stretching is appropriate. I feel like she liked it a lot today because it was more interaction with her peers. Overall, today was really fun.

Parent Post

1) Have you read your son/daughters blog? Was there anything that surprised you or stood out immediately? What was your favourite part about reading his/her reflections? What did you learn about your son/daughter that you didn't know before reading the blog? What part of your child's growth/personality has been reaffirmed for you? What is missing in the blog that you think s/he should include for the teacher or peers? If you were evaluating him/her on his/her blogging efforts, what would you say? What would you give him/her out of 25? How did you come up with that number? Yes I read Anusha's blog. The thing that surprised me was how the children at school are taught to be independent and responsible for their own fitness/learning. My favourite part was when she said she said that she enjoys activities where they have to keep moving. I learnt that she is participating and taking interest in her fitness.I am reaffirmed about her self confidence. However, whats missing in the blog is her experiences of out of school field hockey games and taekwondo lessons.I would give her 25 because she has been consistent with maintaining a high fitness level. HEALTHY LIVING: 2) What do you notice about your child's health choices outside of school? What activity and or diet choices does s/he make on their own? What exercise/eating choices are encouraged buy the family/household? Did you see any evidence of this in his/her blog? What is missing that should be included? What improvements do you think your child could/should make to further his/her understanding and participation in his/her own health? What things can you as parent do to push this learning/practice? If you were to evaluate your son/daughter on their progress towards personal healthy life choices what would you say? What mark would you give them out of 25 for his/her efforts and demonstration of those efforts in the blog? How did you come up with that number? Anusha makes healthy choices at home, she eats a lot of greens and avoids junk food as much as possible. Our family eats home cooked meals everyday which is always a well balanced vegetarian diet. She is encouraged to be physically active every day after school as she is enrolled in taekwondo and field hockey, plus she goes to the gym on weekends. I did see evidence of her gym workout and eating habits in the blog.I think by logging the physical activity everyday anusha would benefit more. I am satisfied with Anusha's healthy life choices and give her full marks.

Fitness Day

So we did sprints on friday, and I'm not going to lie this was undoubtedly the most boring fitness activity we have done. I wish we could've done like the community run or the pond run because it felt like such a waste of a beautiful day. Most of the time we would stand around, and when we did run, it was for a really short time. I prefer activities where we are constantly moving. It was nice talking to Gaby though. I feel like throughout the year the grade 9's and 10's have become so close. Also photo props to Simran (god bless).

Dragon Tails Round 2

We played against the other class and it was so much fun (because we basically kicked their butts), and because we all worked as a team and all that good stuff. I think our class is a lot closer than the other band class, which is awesome, and that contributed to our success in dragon tails!

Buddies (Day 4)

That day at buddies was really fun because we were outside, and I feel like my buddy had a lot more fun because of the open space. We had to practise throwing tennis balls into hoola hoops, and it was fun. She was doing great, she's a really good listener, she did everything I told her to, asked questions when she was unsure. It was a good day overall. I've become more comfortable being a leader with my buddy.

Buddies (Day 3)

(super late im sorry im so forgetful) So my buddy wasn't feeling too good on that day, and her enthusiasm level was a little low, but I tried to keep her energy up, by motivating her and such. By the end she really didn't want to stretch. We taught our buddies how to do the jump and stop, and it was really different being a leader. It felt very strange because all of a sudden I was faced with a new responsibility. Communicating with my buddy wasn't difficult, she was a fast learner, and picked up the skills easily, I guess I'm not that bad at being a leader ;)

Saturday

On saturday I went to the ymca again, and I forgot to post about it oops, but I did ellipticals and the stairs machine thing. It was extremely tiring and I only meant to do 15 minutes of stairs but ended up doing 20 minutes because I felt like challenging myself. I think that PE has made me feel comfortable with being uncomfortable because I know that a year before, I wouldn't have been able to keep going and I would've given up immediately.

Work out day with Marcia & Sarah!

Today Marcia and Sarah came over and we went to the ymca together and got lunch! First we started off with elipticals for about 15-20 minutes. Then Marcia and I moved on to weights, and we did a bunch of resistance stuff with the machines. Sarah joined us later, after doing ellipticals. I ended up going on the stairs, but I forgot to take a picture. I burned 150 calories and climbed 1000 stairs. After that I lifted some seven pound weights for a bit. We had lunch at a sushi place by my house because it would be stupid to go all out on mcdonalds. I'm pretty happy with my progress because before on the stairs I could never make it past 10 minutes but I ended up doing 20. I guess I finally allowed myself to feel uncomfortable because I was so sore but I just kept pushing myself. I enjoyed working out because we were all motivating each other and it was awesome to be honest.

Buddies (Day 2)

I finally met my buddy! She was a very observant girl because she noticed my braces, LOL. It felt really different being with someone a lot younger than me. I'm used to little kids because I have a little sibling, but she isn't as young. It was different, but it was comfortable. I kinda felt like an older sibling and a friend with my buddy. We did some exercises, and played a fruit game. By the time we had to stretch, I think my buddy was done for the day because she didn't want to stretch. It was a pretty good day.

Dragon Tails

This game was so awesome, oh my goodness. I felt myself really working hard, and I was actually exercising, but I was enjoying it! I felt like our band class really bonded, as we were team BBW. However, we didn't win, but that was okay because we will redeem ourselves. I think this game is great, and I love it as much as I love speed ball. Outside activities in general are really fun, but I don't feel we do enough of them.

Buddies (Day 1)

Disclaimer: This is so late I'm so sorry.

So on Tuesday we had buddies and it was really fun. My buddy wasn't there so I had to team up with Peyton and her buddy. We played a lot of fun games and I felt like I was back in elementary school (well it was my old elementary school sooo). I'm really looking forward to the next time we have buddies so I can finally meet mine. One thing I noticed about Peyton's buddy was that she was very energetic, and a surprisingly good listener; whenever we would tell her stuff she would repeat it later, and she maintained eye contact

Mid Term Reflection

In PE this year, I have shown that I am always willing to participate by: maintaining a positive attitude, bringing gym strip all the time, coming to class on time, trying my best even if I don't like the activity, waiting patiently for the teacher, and by never missing a gym class. My best days were surprisingly, fitness days. I feel like those were really good days because I was motivated to do good, and I really like the hard core workouts. Days that have been a struggle were fitness days that involved the beep test. I don't particularly like the beep test mostly because I don't do so well (although this time I did get a 6 which is "good" on the scale). I contribute to the success of the class by helping with equipment, and setting up. I don't consider myself a leader nor do I consider myself a follower, instead I contribute by helping. I would say that I bring a positive attitude, because I like our PE class, and I like making everyone feel good about themselves and happy. I get a long with literally everyone in the class, and I talk to everyone as well. I've actually become a lot closer with a LOT of grade 9's this year. My participation during fitness days, has been really, really good. A huge improvement from last year because previously, I would consistently give up when doing a fitness activity. I would enjoy them, but I would always get up. I think this year my mind set has changed, I constantly push myself to be the best I can be, and I always surround myself with positive people. The favorite fitness activities are: the pond run, insanity, loco motion, and triple threat. Some fitness goals I have, are to just never settle for less, really. Right now I'm happy with a 6 on my beep test, but I want to get a 7, then an 8, maybe even a 9. Another goal is to just continue to push myself in everything I do. Leadership to me means a person or group of people, that use their communication skills to make a difference. The best leader in our class is Simran. I think she always does a fantastic job whenever she organizes an activity, and I think she should continue to lead the class. An improvement I would like to make in PE, is to try to get to know more of the grade 9's and to help as much as I can during class. I am most proud of the fact that my fitness level has gone up because gym is actually really fun, and I'm proud of how positive I am so far. In conclusion I would say that I give myself 80% because I feel like I do push myself, but I don't think that its enough for an "A".

Insanity

For fitness friday, we had to watch the insanity video, and follow along. It was a little hard to do at the middle of the video because I got more un-motivated. But my friends Hannah and Pallvi are amazing, and they always motivate me to be the best that I can be, so I did a lot better at the end of the video. I felt really tired after, and was sore for a long time (in fact I still am). What I can work on for next fitness, and I know I say this a lot, but I really need to improve on self motivation.
